Knightlight have developed a light to fit in the mail slot of the Camaro SS. The 5th Gen Camaro is an awesome looking car, just owning this car shows you like to stand outt. With this Knight right effect scanning light you can stand out more, being individual. The light will fit in the mail slot (black slot between the hood and the grill). It is made using 64 LED's. We are aiming to produce these light as soon as possible, estimated March 2010. We are very excited about producing this scanning light for this awesome machine. There has been a discussion about our Scanner lights on the Camaro5 forum. There may be budget scanner lights on the internet, we regard our scanner lights to be the best on the internet, with its fading trail effect and many segments, others just don't come close. High quality assembly, unique design using surface mount components much like mobile phones, coated in a tough rubber coating that we have tested to extremes and the light still functions. As of December 28th 2009 we have completed the electronics side of the light and programmed with our own custom programming with 3 patterns and speed control. Currently the plastic front is awaiting CNC completion. Once proved to fit the new Camaro we will be rolling this out into production. December 31st 2009 - Firmware editing, the Knight Rider 2008 pattern could be smoother. Working on making it move one pxel at a time like other patterns. Jan 2nd 2010 - Completed smoother effect on KR2008 pattern. Working well. Have altered design of control board to take an optional brake line signal so the light can be activated when vehicle brakeing. Jan 10th 2010 - The control board design and layout has been completed. Expect delivery of new control boards and display LED boards in under 2 weeks. Firmware alterations have been worked on over the last week. Using the keyfob and the display being off, by pressing the Triangle button the display will run one cycle then turn off again. Any speed alterations and pattern choice is saved to non-volatile ram after 8 seconds, to be remembered and used on next power up. Jan 17th 2010 - The prototype display has been fitted to the front plastic with great success. Will be tried on the new Camaro this month, if all fits we will be rolling these into production. Jan 28th 2010 - Production assembly will be starting shortly, there is minor adjustments to the front plastic. Apart from that we are all good to go. Mar 2nd 2010 - Earlier on in the year we were hoping to start shipping the lights in the beginning of March. Most of the parts are complete apart from the CNC front. We are trying out a second prototype front to see how good the fitting is. We also want to do some videos of the light running on the Camaro. Electronics and pogramming is complete, we have built almost 100 lights now without the CNC front. As of now we have has 93 depositts. So a big thank you to everyone who is supporting this development. This Camaro Scanner light will have the following features:-
The 64 LED's are fitted into a plastic mount and will clip in place or original plastic. The light gives a very smooth moving effect due to the amount of LED's lighting independently. Below is the first Camaro scanner light we have made. Shows the use of the keyfob control.
Scanner PatternsPattern1 :- Standard 80's Knight Rider Pattern moving from left to right and back again. Emergency PatternsPattern5 :- Emergency Strobe light effect 1. Pattern SelectionSwitching between Scanner Patterns and Emergency patterns is a case of holding the pattern button, 'O'. This avaids having to skip through the Emergency patterns when you just want to see the scanning pattern. To move onto the next pattern just press 'O'.. Speed ControlSpped control is controled via the keyfob, hundreds of speeds to select. Press the Triangle button to put the light into 'Speed Control' mode and then you will see a single dot at each end of the light to indicate the light is in 'Speed Contro' mode. When in this mode pressing/holding the Red button speeds up the movement, and pressing/holding the 'O' will slow down. To exit 'Speed Control' mode press the triangle. On/OffThe Red button on the key fob toggles the diaplay on/off. If the display is off, and you press the Trianble button the current selected pattern will run just one cycle. Status LEDThis is anLED that could be mounted under the hood but visible through the windshield. The LED comes on when ever the display is running, even when running a cingle cycle run (see on/off). Settings RecallAfter a button is pressed eg. speed or pattern selection, then after 8 seconds the settings will be stored into non-volatile memory. This mean when you power cycle the light it will be running the same pattern and speed next time. PricingThe light with remote control feature will be £135 ( $216 US dollars) we hope to have these ready to ship in March. Looking at the Camaro5 forum these lights are going to be popular with almost 100 people on the waiting list. If you want to make sure you are one of the first to receive this light you can pay a deposit of £50 to reserve your light. We aim to ship in March, and will keep you up to date with your order. Remote Control Keyfob VersionThis will be our standard item for the KS4264 product. The keyfob control gives the user choice of patterns and speed. There are 5 patterns selectable, and over 100 speed settings. The Red button select on./off. While the light is on, the Circle button moves onto the next pattern. The Triangle button takes you in to speed edit mode, the the Red and Circle button acts as speed control up / down, and then the Triangle button takes you out of speed mode. Once in normal running mode and the on/off is pressed. The display will blank, to run the pattern just once, press the triangle button.Single Colour Camaro Scanning Lights
Dual Colour Camaro Scanning LightsThe two LED colours are fitted alternatley along the length. By having two colours they will mix to produce one overall colour. Simular to a TV screen, if you look close enougth you will see Red/Green and Blue dots, by energising all three you get White. We have no plans to make a tripple coloured light but its the basis that our dual colour light work on. This model of the light is programmed slightly different to the single colour version. Using the triangle button on the keyfob take you into speed mode, pressing again lets you adjust the colour. Why does is the cost the same as single colour? The light is still using 64 LED's, so cost of manufacture does not increase. However does require different proramming. The colour selection is an addition of the pattern button.
Any form of moving light should not be used on a vehicle when on a public highway |
